TERRITORIALS.
CAMP AT lIA AVER A. On Friday last the officers of tho 2nd Regiment Wellington (AN est Coast) Mounted Rifles, with a 'veil roprosuritod proportion of N.C.O’s. from all t!io squadrons, pitched an instruction camp on tho show grounds, Hawcra, folly sixty being present. The staff of D.M.T. consisted of Captains Robinson, Duigan, and AVhyto, accompanied by tho district instruction Sergeant Majors. Major Davis, O.C. Regiment, was in charge of the camp, and with him were Captain Adjutant Khngender and Liout.-Adj. Cardalc. Major Ruasell (Brigadier) held a meeting of officers in the town on Saturday evening, and held a church parade' on Sunday at St. Mary’s. Ho also inspected tho exorcises of both officers and men during the afternoon, and drew up the syllabus of squadron work during Vue evening, and entered into ways and. moans of accomplishing same for the coming year. t Saturday being wot the class was held in tho Drill Hall. The officers were lectured by Captain Robinson on “Discipline.“ Manual work was done by all. A lecture on the rifle in use by mounted rifles was given by Lieut. Cardalc and Captain Duigan held a practical class of semaphore signalling. In the evening tho officers of the regiment met Major Rnssod and held a regimental meeting.' On Sunday physical drill was carried on before breakfast, after which marching prictice was proceeded with, church parade being then attended. Semaphore, manual and judging distance were carried out during the afternoon, when at 4.20 Surgeon-Captain Carhnry (medical officer) gave a most interest-' ing ami instructive lecture on “Camp hygiene/’ which was much appreciated by ‘ all. A mooting of officers was held during the evening, at which the Brigadier presided. On Monday cal exorcise, musketry, sound drill, semaphore signalling, judging distance and communicative drill wore carried out. Camp was struck at 5 p.m. Tho ddea of this instructional class is to let' the O.C. squadrons, trooploaders and N.C.O’s. see the way that the Territorial drafts, which will soon bo posted to the different squadrons, are to be trained.
