WAITARA ANGLICAN CHURCH.

ANNUAL MEETING.

Tho annual parish mooting of St. John’s Church was hold on Tuesday evening. Tho chair was occupied by the vicar (Rev. C. P. R. Harrison). Tho following gentlemen wore nominated as vicar’s warden and people’s warden respectively, viz., Messrs. 11. E. Gilbert and J. H. Redward. The following wore also elected to form the vestry for the current year: Messrs. Ackland, J. W. Foreman) F. D .Greenwood, Moore, Stead, and Wells. The balance sheets and churchwarden’s report wore road and adopted. Tho report stated that whilst there had been a slight decrease in the amount of the offertories as compared with last year, the proceeds from tho “Juno tea” and sundry subscriptions had bbon enough to meet nil liabilities and leave a small balance to the credit of tho general fund. During tho year tho following special efforts wore made to reduce the debt upon the vicarage; Two bazaars and garden party at Waitarn, £121; garden party and concert at Lop-pc-rton, £3l; annual picnic at Tikorangi (part of proceeds), £10; sale of work at Urenui, £ll. By tho exertions put forth in each place, by a willing band of workers, in connection with the special efforts, the amount of debt on the vicarage has been reduced to £IOO, and as there is ’a substantial balance to tho credit of tho vicarage fund, tho debt will immediately bo still further reduced. In connection with St. John’s Hall, there has been a considerable increase in tho revenue, and after providing for all current liabilities a good balance is carried forward, notwithstanding tho extra expense incurred in purchasing a new piano for use in the hall and providing better facilities in case of fire.

On tho motion of tho vicar, ncarty votes of thanks wore passed to tho Sunday school teachers, organist and cfcoir, lay readers, members of tho Sanctuary Guild, churchwardens, and to all otbejs who have so heartily worked to further tho interests of tho church and to reduce the debt upon tho vicarage.
