LAND BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. Tlio Taranaki Land Board resumed its monthly meeting yesterday, there being present; Messrs. J. Hcslop (chairman, in the absence, through illness, of the Commissioner), Bottonhury, and Kennedv. INSPECTIONS OF HOLDINGS. E. Tolmc, Crown Lund* Hanger, reported on the inspection of four holdings. The improvements required amounted to the value of £2041, and those effected to £2899. One settler had not effected sufficient improvements. . ' Jl. T. Twiss, Crown Lands Hanger, reported on tho inspection of fourteen holdings ; improvejnents required £-1629, effected £BBI6. ' Two settlors wore in default for residence. The board decided to send notice to those who hud not complied with tho ‘ U teansfees OF EDUCATION LEASES. The following transfers of Education leases wero approved upon the usual xmditions: Section 105, block 2, S’gaore, A. T. Fischer to 0; Sanfesteh;' sections SG-1-5, 590-1, 817, and 821-2, Sew Plymouth, T. M. Higgie to M. E. Smith; section 64a, block 1, Ngaere, Ephraim Jcnkin to Archibald Hazel ton ; motion 30, block 10, Huiroa, Alexander drown to H. E. Gray. Seteral other ipplicutions for transfers were,deferred : or further particulars, and a similar ■ourse was taken with regard to a subcase. A sublease of sections 36 and 41, dock, 6, Ngatimaru, from IV. H. Walaco to A. J. and IV. H. Stocldcy was ipproved on.tho usual conditions. NON-COMPLIANCE WITH CONDITIONS. Action was taken us stated with regard to the selectors who bad lot fulfilled the conditions of selection: IV. Hooks, section 2, block 2, Piopiotoa IV., non-residence, forfeiture appealed
si gainst, decided that, the selector being now resident, tho forfeiture be rescinded ; B. H. Julian, section 7, block 11, Cape, non-residence, decided that reason given be. accepted and two months’ extension bo granted; C. V. Shaw, section 8, block ll„Cnpo, non-rosidenco ( the selector waited on the b«*rd and explained his reason for uou-rosidence, which explanation was accepted, but residence to be taken up within three months. MISCELLANEOUS. B. Glentworth waited on the hoard wit'll 'reference to taking his wife and family on to section 25, block 1, Tangitu. —Consideration deferred until next mooting. Tiie board decided to affix its consent to the necessary documents in oonnee-, tion with deviation of a road through section 25, Him and Waiwakaiho, provided everything was in order. The (pisetion of the upset values of sections 1,2, and 3, block 2, Totoro, held by Archie M‘lntyre, Angus MTntyre, mid A. Sungstor, deferred for further inquiry. J. E. W. Henchman applied for six months’ leave of absence from sections 55, etc., block 4, Paritiitn, Spotswood Settlement, to enable him to seek work. —Besoived that tho request bo granted in terms of applicant’s letter. ■ . Walker mid Peak, solicitors, wrote asking for protection of mortgagee’s interest in section 1, block 2, Piopiotea, lately held by A. J. Whittaker..—Besoived to inform tho writers that interests would ho conserved to tho extent allowed by law. The Auckland Education Board applied fo rtho setting aside of part section 12, block 4, Totoro, scenery reserve, as a site for the Mapara school, in place of other sites chosen in the . settlement.—Tho request was granted, an area of 5 acres being set aside for the purpose. Tho Commissioner laid before tho board the matter of arbitration fees on section 9, block 5, Ohura. Tho freehold of this section had been applied for on March 21, 1910, but tho contract had not boon completed.—lt was resolved that £5 5s bo refunded in tho circumstances.
