WESTPORT, Jan. 30.
A mass meeting of miners in the Westport Coal Company's employ was held at Waimangaroa to-day. There were .about 250 from . Gran ity and 20 from Denniston present. The meeting was not open to the press, but information was given that after a lengthy discussion the following resolutions were carried unanimously : — (1) That • the Miners' Federation Executive be asked to -meet the officers of Westport Coal Company and try to get the company to do away with the medical examination, and, failing their complying with the request, that the Federation bo asked to arrange to get legislation passed doing away with the examination; (2) that the Granity and Denniston Medical Association be requested to have the examination discontinued; (3) that the officer^ of the Federation. Messrs. Colvin and Oregan, be thanked for their services on behalf of the miners.
