BIENNIAL, ELEPTION.
Nominations of candidates for the biennial election of the NewPlymoutn Harbour Board closed with the return--ing officer, Mr. C. S. Rennell, «at noon to-day. From .the Now Plymouth, Taranaki, Egmont, and Waimate wards only one nomination each was received, and no election will be necessary m these districts. For the Stratford anrl the Eltham wards there are two candidates in each* district and elections will be held in these districts on tho Bth inst. The persons nominated ior the- various Wards are as follow:— . New Plymouth: James Baxter Connctt. " . ' ' ~ •-• <1! Taranaki : Newton King. . E" mont : Ebenezer Maxwell. Waimate: William Thomas Parker •Wells. ■'•''/' Eltham: Jacob Marx (present me.mber) and Charles Anderson Wilkinson. i Stratford: James' Thomson (present member)' and, Joseph M-'Cluggage. » . i Sp far tho only new, member, ot tho Board is Mr. Wells,, who represents tho recently constituted Waimato, County. Besides the county representatives, the i Board includes three .Government nomiI nees. The Government representatives !at present are Messrs. D. Hughes, Price, and Ward. . Mr. J. Hme, wWo I was a member of the old Board, x repwv._ sented the Clifton County, which is now<. incorporated in the Waitara Harbour, ! District.
