NORTH ISLAND COMPETITION

The thirty-sixth week ol the second competition promoted by the North Island Egg-laying Competition Association, Ltd., at Cambridge, was conclude-! on Friday last. The number of eggs laid during the week was 1233. being an average of 18.68 eggs per pen. The total number of eggs laid since May 16 is 00.007. being an average of 760.25 eggs per pen. The prizes of the summer test for most eggs laid from September 16, 1908, to January 10. 1909, were won as follows : —Light section : First prize, £2 2s, W. G. Goodwin (formerly of New Plymouth), with a total of ."571 eggs; second prize, £'1 Is, G. E. Clark and Sons, with a total oi .5.33 eggs; third prize, 10s 6d, W. G. Care, with a total of 544 eggs. Heavy section : First prize, £'2 2s, E. Veale, with a total of 508 eggs; second prize. £1 Is, Mrs J. Mace, with a total oi "151 eggs ; third prize, 10s 6d. Auckland A. and P. Association, with a total of 42] eggs.

Salt (Xew Plymouth), White Leghorns, 27; G. Rhodes, R.C. Brown Leghorns, 27. Heavy breeds: Dr. K. X Robeits, White Orpingtons, 31 Auckland A. and P. Association, Black Orpingtons. 27. E. Veale.
