Forgetting that an hour before she had expressed doubt as to Wollf s identity, Mmc Stoinhoil again said"That man there" — pointing to Wollf -r-"murdered my husband and my mother; I am sure of- it."
Wollf, who is oi the working class, retorted with a series of unprintable
insults. Mine. Nleinheil replied in ihe same strain, and lor hilly an hour the two hurled insults and denials and accusations of lying at each other. Then another dramatic- surprise, prepared hy the magistrate, occurred. The door opened, and Mile Steinheil ran in. She was sobbing bitterly, and threw herself at her mother's leet, saying: "Mother, mother, con less; tell them everything; tell them e\ erythmg !" Mine Steinheil ako wept bitterly, but said nothing. M. Leydet himseli shed tears. Finally Mmc Steinheil said : "I swear that 1 had nothing to do with the murders, and that Wolli' committed them." Eventually Wollf was released irom custody.
