SUPREME COURT.— Thursday.

IN BANKRUPTCY. [Before his Honor Sir G. A. Arney, Chief Justice.] In re CAsrA Frasi. —ln this case an application was made for an adjournment.— Adjourned for three weeks. IN BANCO. Manners v. Caledonian G.M.Co.—Mr Hesketh for the plaintiff, and Mr Whitaker for the defendant. This was a resumption of the argument adjourned from the previous day, when Mr Hesketh appeared to show cause against the rule granted at a previous sitting of the Court being made absolute. Mr Hesketh spoke for five hours, and read from numerous authorities to show that the plaintiff was not estopped. —Mr Whitaker now argued at great length in support of the motion that the Court should make the rule absolute. In October of the last year the plaintiff held two shares in the company of the defendants. He also held shares in the Mary Anne G.M.Co. Intending to transfer these, he placed two blank transfer forms in the hands of his broker. These were obtained, as was alleged, by a partner of the broker, who filled up the forms for two shares in the Caledonian G.M.Co., which he sold, when the name of the plaintiff was removed from the register. Plaintiff brought his action in the Supreme Court to recover the value of the shares, and obtained a verdict for £229. The case argued was

whether the plaintiff was liable for his own laches in signing a blank transfer, or whether the Caledonian G.M.Co. was responsible. Mr Whitaker concluded his argument at 4 30., when the Court adjourned, his Honor reserving judgment.— Cross.
