KAUAERANGA HIGHWAY DISTRICT BOARD.
A meeting of the Kanaeranga Highway District Board was to have been held last evening at the office, Pollen-Street, but there not being a sufficent number of members present to form a quorum the meeting lapsed without any business being done. The following correspondence had been received, and will be considered at the next meeting - Tramways. Superintendent’s Office, Auckland, August 13th, 1872. Sir,—l have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Secretary’s letter, dated the Ist inst., forwarding Mr Grove’s application for a tramway right; and to’ state in reply that a requisition upon the subject of tramways is now progressing at Wellington, it would perhaps be better to postpone any further action in the matter of this and similar applications.—l have, &c., H. H. Lusk, Goldfields Secretarj’.— The Chairman, Kauaeranga District Board. Grant in Aid. —“ Superintendent’s Office, Auckland, 13th August, 1872.—Sir, — In reply to your Secretary’s letter, dated the 30th ultimo, I.have the honor to state, in order to enable your Board to proceed with the roads that are urgently needed, a further advance of £l5O will be authorised for payment next month, upon the usual certificate.— l am, &c., 11. Lusk, Provincial Secretary. —To the Chairman of the Kauaeranga District Board.” Financial Statement.— LiabilitiesAugust 12 : “ To overdraft at Bank, £154 15s 7d ; accounts to be paid, £49 19s, viz., Quinlivan, £4 19s, sundries: do, £3O, Pollen-street contact; McCormick and Co., £ls, liape Road contract.
