KAUAERANGA HIGHWAY DISTRICT BOARD.

A meeting of the Kanaeranga Highway District Board was to have been held last evening at the office, Pollen-Street, but there not being a sufficent number of members present to form a quorum the meeting lapsed without any business being done. The following correspondence had been received, and will be considered at the next meeting - Tramways. Superintendent’s Office, Auckland, August 13th, 1872. Sir,—l have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Secretary’s letter, dated the Ist inst., forwarding Mr Grove’s application for a tramway right; and to’ state in reply that a requisition upon the subject of tramways is now progressing at Wellington, it would perhaps be better to postpone any further action in the matter of this and similar applications.—l have, &c., H. Grant in Aid. —“ Superintendent’s Office, Auckland, 13th August, 1872.—Sir, — In reply to your Secretary’s letter, dated the 30th ultimo, I.have the honor to state, in order to enable your Board to proceed with the roads that are urgently needed, a further advance of £l5O will be authorised for payment next month, upon the usual certificate.— l am, &c., 11.
