On Saurday Captain Skene forwarded the resolution agreed on at the meeting, on Friday night, to Mr Lemon, at Wellington, and in the course of a few hours he received the following answer ToJames Skene, Esq., i bairm tn of Sharebrokers’ meeting, Grab nun >wu. “In reply to your telegram ibis day’s date, the Telegraph Commissioner desires me to inform you that immediate steps will be taken to increase the present wire accommodation by running a third wire. With this in view, Mr Floyd, the electrician, has been instructed to proceed, per steamer to Auckland, to commence opelations, and in order that no time may be lost, will commence running the third wire from Grahamstown towards Mercer and simultaneously from Mercer towards Grahamstown. This will give you the advantage of the third wire from Mercer to Auckland now up, until such time as the wire can be continued from Mercer to Auckland. Mercer, until the wire is continued, transmitting Auckland work to Waikato. Trusting this will satisfy you. —I am, &c., C. Lemon. General Manager.” This we consider most satisfactory, and by far the speediest method of obtaining extra wire accommodation. As there is very little work to be done on the Waikato line, it will be at the service of the Thames for by far the greater part of the day'. Capt. Skkne telegraphed back, on Saturday evening, to Mr Lemon, the following im-ssage : “To C. Lemon, Esq., Welling'on. “ I am desired by the Committee appointed at last night’s public meeting to thank you for your promptness iu bringing the subject of their request under the notice of tho Telegraph Commissioner, and also to thank that gentleman for his ready acquiescence in the aame, which will in every way, they believe, meet their requirements.
