The Norwich Union Life Society has no distinct body of proprietors ; the insurers at large are the recipients of the savings of the institution : the premiums paid, being in fact only deposits, revert to those who contribute them. SETTLEMENT POLICIES. To meet one of the greatest wants of the day, the Norwich Union issues Policies in the nature of settlements, whereby a man in solvent circumstances, provided the matter ia bona fide, may secure (wituou- the bisk OF bankruptcy) a certain and direct provision for his family. RESOURCES. Irrespective of the immense annual revenue this Society gradually and surely on the increase, it possesses a reserve fund of £2,300,000 and upwards, available for its requirements. RATES OP PREMIUM Are framed as low as are consistent with the due safety of the Society, and its Actuary is calculated to be one of the most competent authorities in England, the Court of Chancery having recently had to avail themselves of his experience in these matters : and although apparently higher than most offices, assurers ahould not lose sightof the fact that they receive it back either in bonuses or additions to the ■urns assured, and, in electing to assure in this Society, they also avail themselves of the experience and safety of a concern that time has proved to be secure against all chances. EXPERIMENTAL CRUSHING AND MINERAL ASSAYING. OWING to the intended discontinuance by the Mint for trial crushings of quartz and other minerals, and also of mineral assaying, the undersigned have commenced the erection, at their Brauch Establishment, New Pitt-street, of a full and complete plant, combining all the latest improvements for the crushing, extraction, and treatment of every description of minerals, the whole of which will be under the superintendence of Professor Watt, Government Analyst.
