LATEST PARLIAMENTARY.
WELLINGTON. Monday. A meeting of Superintendents and Provincial officers sitting in the Assembly has been held, at which all the Superintendents except Ormond were present. A programme was drawn up and submitted to the Government, with the intimation that the chief feature is to be insisted on. This is that the Superintendents he appointed Government agents to carry on public works under powers of delegation provided for in the Public Works Act, and that the office of Resident Minister in the Middle Island be abolished. It is understood that the Ministry will not accept the terms or consent to entrust the delegated power to all Superintendents, although they are willing to retain the discretionary power to do so when advisable. The Cabinet is now considering its reply. If the Provincial party assist and defeat the Ministry, the latter will probably ask for a dissolution.
