At Waitakcrc iron ore exists in considerable quantities. This is a fact worthy of consideration. The price of iron lias increased all over the world, and the immense demand consequent upon the innumerable uses to which the mineral is now applied is almost certain to maintain, if not increase, the present high rate. It wo lid be a great benefit to this colony if wc could manufacture a portion of the iron to be consumed in railway construction. If a company were formed aud successfully worked, a very large sum of money which now leaves the country could be retained in it for re-iuvestmeut. We trust that the Superintendent will be iuduced to appoint some competent mau to investigate as to the probability of a scheme of the sort paying the investors, —Waikato Tima.
