Alexandra letters received .to - day state that it is reported that a large number of natives from Tuhua, under the Chief Marino, had arrived at Kuiti, and.from thence proceeded to Waiaruhi in order to demand the surrender of To liooti. ■ ‘ ; ' A meeting was held at Waiaruhi on July 15th, at which 300 Ngatimaniapotos, including Rewi and other chiefs, were present. .Marino strongly urged Rewi to give le Ivooti up to the law. This Rewi and all the others decidedly refused to do. " -r It is reported that Rewi and all the Ngatimaniapotos. have been converted to Te Kooti’s new religion. •' It is said" that Rewi distrusts. Ahipene’s motives in getting married to the Princess Sophia. He would have preferred her marrying a husband from his own tribe.
