VOLUNTEERING.
I No. 1 Royals assembled at the Volunteer Hall last evening. Sergeant-Major Grant drilled tne men in the bayonet exercise. -They went through the evolutions very well, going through tho whole course from beginning to end. The whole of the men went through the evolutions like machinery. The Thames Rifle Rangers met at the Cosmopolitan drill shed, and mustered about 25. Sub-Lieutenant Carnie drilled the corps in company drill, which the men performed to a nicety. The company had a meeting after drill. MEETING OF NO. 2 H.R.V. Ameetingof the above company was Held at the Provincial Hotel, last evening, for the purpose of electing a new Captain in the stead of Mr Thomas Barnett, resigned. The first business brought before the meeting was the subject of the financial position of the company, and a discussion arose, in which the late Captain was severely censured for the manner in which he had handled the funds of the company. The election of a Captain was deferred until the next, monthly meeting of the company. Three gentlemen were spoken of as candidates for the vacant office, and we sincerely hope that this company may be fortunate in their selection. The meeting adjourned after some minor topics having been discussed.
