ARRIVAL OF THE P.S. 'NEBRASKA.' WITH THE ENGLISH MAIL.

We wHvfd tlie following telegrams on Saturday from Auckland, after the arrival of the Nebraska, hut tin* general manmary was not to hand early enough to publish:— AUCKLAND. Saturday, 412 p.m. The Nebraska has anchored. The Health Officer reports that there is no sickness on the vessel. The Board of Health have decided not to permit the vessel to come up until she has been reexamined. The Health Officer has just left for the steamer, which is auchoted off Rangitoto. 5.35 p.m. In consequence of the alarm which pi rvades Australia respecting smnll-pi>x, the agent of the steamer Alexandra lias applied to the Provincial Government to report the state of health in the province. The Government have furnished a report, attested by the Health Officer, to the effect that there is no case ot variola here at the present time, and that the province is perfectly free irom any contagious disease.

The Alexandra takes to-night the Australian portion of the Californian mails. The captain reports that during the passagi, he had no disease on the trip down. The disease had disappeared at Honolulu and San Francisco, and there was no sickness of any description on the return trip. The Nebraska brings 37 passengers, and made the passage in 15£ aays from Honolulu. The captain reports no news, and says, in reply to interrogation, that be heard nothing of war between America and England. Summonses have been issued against the captain, who is to appear at the Police Court on Wednesday next, charged with not showing a disease flag, and with coming up the harbour without stating that he had disease on board on the last trip of *he Nebraska. The vessel was not released until 7.30 p.m. on Saturday night, after the Health Officer had superintended the fumigation of the mails and luggage. The Nebraska left Honolulu on July 3, and brings dates from Europe to June 19, and San Francisco to June 20. [Two days’ later news was to hand per AngloAustralian Telegraph line last week.— Ed. T.G.] She brings seven passengers for Auckland, eight for Melbourne ; Messrs M. Raphael and J. F. White for Lyttelton ; Messrs S. K. Huff, C. R. Abram, and T, R. Chapman, for Port Chalmers.
