COROMANDEL MINING NEWS.

The New Rakaia have taken out a few pounds more of very nice specimens. They were exhibited in Mr Horne’s office, Kapanga, and very much admired. The leader from which they were taken is making fast, and the gold getting much coarser.

A crushing for the Neptune company will take place at the Nil Desperandum battery after the clean up of the Royal Oak. The stuff is lying at the foot of the Government tramway, and should the weather he favourable, will in all probability be forwarded to the battery tomorrow.

The Trig Hill have had a small crushing of seven pounds of specimens, which gave the good return of nine ounces seven pennyweiglds fifteen grains of retorted gold. It will be remembered that these specimens were taken out of the leader known as the Trig Hill leader about ten weeks ago. It is stated that about twenty tons of stuff from the same lode is already grassed, and estimated to go between two and three ounces to the ton. In the Wood’s Point the contractors are getting on very well witli their work. The present contract is for driving one hundred feet. It is contemplated to sink a shaft on the boundary of the Working Minersat an early date for the purpose of cutting the reef dipping into the ground from that claim.

In the Working Miners stoping is still being carried on. The leader looks well, and gold is frequently seen. The stuff in the paddock is accumulating rapidly for the approaching crushing, which is to take place early.— Coromandel Mad.
