CORRECTION.
To the EJitor of the Thames Guardian. Fir, —I hope you will allow me to correct the statement made by the writer of the report of the fire in last night’s Evening Star , intimating that although tlie various Volunteer companies on the Thames are expected to lie present at fires to keep guard over the property and give
other valuable assistance, not one was to be seen on the scene of tho conflagration. Now, what I wish to state is that there, .is no rule for the Volunteer's to turn out in case of fire. Although space lias been given on the subject in your valuable paper at different times, nothing definite has been done. No doubt, if tho Volunteers had been expected to muster, there would have been nearly every man present. As it was, a large number did assemble in civilians clothes ou the sound of the bugle ; —at least, No. 1 Royals and the Naval Brigade mustered very strougly to render assistance. Apologising for thus trespassing on your valuable space, and hoping that the matter will be brought forward before the proper authorities for consideration. —I am &c., Corporal.
