The following cases are set down for hearing at the Warden’s Court to-day:—H. Farelly v. Obadiah Grant aud others ; C. S. Brown v. Britt and others.
Subscription lists were started yesterday for Mrs I’erston, and a good sum collected. Captain Suutcr, wc believe, obtained between £4O and £SO, and Mr Creagh also col„ lccted a fair amount. We understand that the ball in connection with the Good Intent Lodge (Odd Fellows), Auckland, has been postponed till Wednesday’, the 24th instant. Preparations are being made to have the ball a success, and the tickets are being rapidly disposed of.
As will be seen bv advertisement, the funeral of the late Mr M. J. Berstou will start from Scaley-streut at 3 p.m. to-day. Deceased being a volunteer, lie is to be baiied with military honors by his comrades, and the Volunteer Band are to be present
Mr Robert Maurice Berstou wishes us to state that he is not the person who is referred to in our columus a.s having come to an untimely end. The initials of the deceased being almost similar might lead to a mistake being made by people at a distance. Mr R. M. Berstou is a cousin of tlie deeased.
The final assay, by Mr llapsou, at the Bank of New Zealand, of the amalgam belonging to the Clreeu Harp claim, has yielded Giloz. 7clwt. 12gr., which realised £3 17s 10d per ounce, £2OO 8s Sd. The remainder of the amalgam was as largely impregnated with base metals as the first Jot tested. The assaver was of oppnon that the base metals were foreign to the ore.— Cronx. A serious accideut occurred to a sou of Mr J. Lamb, coal aud firewood merchant, Upper Queen-street, yesterday. It appears the buy was engaged holding a wheel of a dray whiie one of Mr Lamb's employes gicased the axle. The wheel suddenly came off, and fell on the boy’s thigh, breaking L. Hr Bawsou was immediately iu attendance, administered chloroform, aud set the leg. The boy is only 11 years old, aud suffered great paiu. He is now progressing a.s well as can be expected.— Croat.
At the District Court yesterday the case of ti B. Alien v. Dixon Brothers was struck out. notice of discontinuance having been given. An order was made to wind up the Little Wonder U.M.C. (Coromandel}. Iu the case of the Thames View G.M.C. v. Bclicdule of Contributors, the schedule was cuufirmed. In bankruptcy, diaries Stevenson, James Hicks, aud K. V. Dixou received orders of discharge. Au order was granted declaring a deed of arrangement betw.-cu J. and J. W. lioumree and tiieir creditors completely executed, was granted. The eases of Johu i.all and J. W. it. Uuildiug were postponed, and that of D. Williams came to a dead-lock, owing to bankrupt’s non-appear-ance. A full report will be touud in another place.

The captain sold the wreck on board the Southern Cross steamer for £23, and the cargo for £l7 los. The purchaser put the crew to work, aud a goo I deal of the cargo was brought to Auckland. The details are interesting. The inquiry had not concluded when tlio Court rose at fire o’clock.— Hera Id.

The match is to be fixed td-day, wet or fine: we will give a full report in to-morrow’s i si . bi'A special meeting of the members of the Auckland Rowing Club was held at the Cli b* room, Thames Hotel, la: t evening. T’her was a fair attendance of members. Mr G. Foil der Ileydo in the chair. The business for which the meeting bad been called was to take into consideration the affairs of the ctub, with a view :o the winding-up of the same.—Mr T. Henderson, the treasurer, informed the members that the assets of the club (excluding the bants) amounted to £23 10s 6d, aud the liabilities to £lls 0s 2d, thus leaving a deficit of £9l 15s 9d.—The Hon. Secretary (Mr G. H. Fletcher), read a letter from Mr Brookfield requestiug, on behalf of Mr John Copland, immediate payment of an account of about £4O, or else legal proceedings would be taken.—After considerable discussion it was proposed and carried that the club be at once wound up and that Messrs T. Henderson and G. H, Fletcher act as liquidators.—A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the proceedings.—Cross.
