The body of a man named Rowe lias been found in the Waitangi river exhibiting marks of violence. HOKITIKA. Monday. The Government Land Sale has realised £622. At a large public meeting held on Saturday night a resolution was passed requesting the Government to quarantine Auckland vessels for fourteen days. The Government have declined to do so, on the ground that it would be necessary to declare both Auckland and Wellington infected, and that it would be absurd to declare Auckland infected because it contained a few more cases than Wellington.
The s.s. Wellington arrived yesterday and was inspected by the Health Officer, and was afterwards allowed alongside the wharf.
