VOLUNTEERING.
The Engineers and No. 2 H.R.V. tnet at the Cosmopolitan Hall last evening. Present—Capt. Goldsmith, Lieut. Brodie, Sub-Lieutenant McCullough, and SubLieutenant Crick of No. 2 H.R.V. and 45 members. No. 1 Royals, H.R.V., mustered at the Volunteer Hall, Shortland, under the command of Capt. Lipscy Present —Lieut. Lechner and 35 rank-and-file. No. 3 H.R.V. mustered at their own drill-shed uuder the command of Captain Newby. Members present —Lieut. Macdonald and 23 rank-and-file. The Naval Brigade mustered at their new drill-shed, Grahamstown, under the command of Captain Grant, Lieutenant Baseley and Sub-Lieutenant Bruce. Members present Rank-and-file, with band, 61. Before this really line body of men were dismissed the band played, and the men sang “ God save the Queen ” in a manner that denoted their loyalty ; after which three cheers was given for Major Cooper, and the same for Captain Grant. The whole of the above companies were put through a course of drill at their respective drill-sheds by Sergeant-Major Grant, and inspected by Major Cooper.
