THE FORESHORE EXEMT FROM OCCUPATION OR MINING.
The following proclamation appears in the Provincial Government Gazette published on Tuesday last: — “ By virtue of the powers to me delegated by the Governor in Council, under his hand and the Public Seal of the Colony, under “ The Gold Mining Districts Act, 1871,” I do hereby exempt from occupation for mining purposes, or for machine sites, or for business, or for residence, all that portion of land situate within the- boundaries of the Hauraki Gold Mining District under the said Act, which is particularly described in the Schedule hereunder. Provided always that the above exemption should not extend to any portion of the said land now lawfully occupied for mining purposes. Given under my hand and seal, at Auckland, within the said Province, this nineteenth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two. — Thomas B. Gillies, Superintendent.” “Schedule.- -All that portion of land bounded by a line commencing at high watermark at a point eight chains northwest (or Tararu side) of the junction of the Opitomoko Creek with Hauraki Gulf, and bearing forty-nine degrees east, and measuring one hundred and twelve chains; thence by a line at right angles bearing one hundred and thirty-nine degrees south-east of north, measuring forty chains; thence by a line parallel to the first line bearing forty-nine degrees west, continuing down to high water mark ; thence by the Hauraki Gulf to the point first mentioned. All bearings from first line including angles of 90 degrees.
