ARRIVAL OF THE S.S. TAEAE.UA. WESTLAND. Hokitika, June 14,12.25 p.m. The s.s. Tararua, Captain Pearce, arrived at 11 o’clock yesterday morning from Melbourne, after a splendid passage of. four days nineteen hours. She left at 2 p.m. on the Bth. VICTORIA. Melbourne, June 8. The Hon. Gavin Duffy, Minister, has resigned. He asked for a dissolution of Parliament, which was refused. A new Ministry has been formed, composed of Mr Francis, Premier : Mr Langton, Treasurer; Mr Ramson, Minister of Public Works; Mr Gillies, Commissioner of Lands ;Mr McKay, Minister of Mi r jes ; Mr Cohen, Commissioner of Customs ; Mr Stephens, Attorney-General; Mr Herferd, Solicitor-General. Mr Anderson to represent the Government in the Legislative Couiicil. Mr Duffy submitted a lengthy manl festo to the Governor to support the dissolution, which was ably replied to by the Governor. Mr Garrat’s complaints againts the impeachment of Mr Berry have improved. Mr Garrat will ask for evidence to lie printed, in which delicate family disclosures are involved. Commercial.— Wheat, 6s 9d to 7s ; flour, £l6 to £l6 10s; New Zealand wheat, 6s 6d to 7s; oats, 3s to 3s 2d. Sugar held firmly. Tookey shares aie offered at £6 15s ; nominal, £5 ss. The usual ceremonieß were gone through. The murder of the Rev. Mr Gordon at Erromanga has been confirmed. He was sent for to visit two sick native children, and on h's arrival found them dead. The natives killed the rev. gentleman, thinking that he had bewitched the children. SHIPPING. Anived : The City of Adelaide, from Auckland. Sailed : Lady Emma and City of Melbourne, Auckland. SOUTH AUSTRALIA. Adelaide. Lewis, the publisher, of the Protestant Advocate , charged with libelling Miss "Wood, a Sister of Mercy, pleaded justification. Sentenced to six months’ imprisonment and fined £SO.
