An extraordinary meeting of the Specimen. Goldmining Company will take place ou Saturday, June 15. A call of sixpence per share has been made in the Lucky Diggers’ Goldmiuing Company. On the 27th of June Mr Hector McKenzie, contractor, intends to pass his last examination at the Bankruptcy Court, and thereafter make application for his discharge. The adjourned licensing meeting will be held at noon to-day, at the Police Court, Shortland. Early yesterday morning some evil-dis-posed persons cut adrift three waterman’s boats lying oft Grahamstovvn Wharf. A reward of £lO is offered for such an information as will lead to the conviction of the offenders. We, regret to learn from our Papakura correspondent that C. Mellsop, Esq., the esteemed and much-respected Besideut ftlagistrate for the district of Papakura, Waiuku, and Ouehunga, died on Saturday, after about three weeks’ illness.— Cross. We have great pleasure in noticing that Mr John Howell, of this township, late Captain of the Auckland Koyal Volunteer Corps for over eleven years, has been gazetted Captain in the New Zealand Militia, the commission to date from the 7th Feb., 1872,
A well-attended meeting was held yesterday, at the New Caledon.a Hotel, relative to extendiug the boundaries of the Parawai District to Hape Creek. After considerable discussion the meeting was adjourned till Thursday. A report will be found in another place. The entire household furniture, effects, and stock-in-trade of the Imperial Crowu Hotel, Tararu, will be offered for sale to-day, without reserve, by Mr James Craig. Also a neat verandah cottage, with garden, well of water, and stable, situated bn the hill, at the rear of Skllar’s Albion Hotel. This offers an opportunity uot met with every buy, aud we have no doubt will be .taken advantage of by intending purchasers. We understand that several complaints have been laid this weik, by the Inspector of M.uois’Bights, some of winch are new aud of great importance to sevetal ou this goldfield.
