The children connected with the Shortland Baptist Sunday School celebrated the Queen’s natal day by planting of a variety of trees around their chapel, in Willoughby-street.
Notice is given that a Court will be held at Ngaruawahia on the 13th of June, to revise the list of voters for the electoral district of Waikato.
A call of 3s per share is made by the Thames Gas Compauy, to be paid to Mr Owen Jones, Secretary, Vaile’s Buildings, on or before 22ud of June. The only business at the Police Court, yesterday, was the granting of an application by Mr Curtis, of the Pacific Hotel, for an extension of licence to St. George’s Hall, on the evening of the occasion of the Naval Brigade Ball. Yesterday being a general holiday in celebration of the Queen’s birthday, there was no business at the Resident Magistrate’s Court, which stands adjourned until Friday next.
The annual meeting of the shareholders of the Imperial City Goldmiuing Campany, is announced to he held on the 31st inst., in the company’s office, Grahamstown, to receive the directors’ report and balancesheet.
The transfer hooks of the Mutual Mining Investment Company are to be closed at noon on Monday, and will remain closed until Thursday, the 30th inst., when a dividend will be paid at the office of the company.
In commemoration of Her Majesty’s birthday, Mr Jacobs, of the Scotia Hotel, treated his patrons and friends to a ball and sapper, last night. The attendance was very good, and the proceedings orderly and well conducted throughout.
An extraordinary meeting of the shareholders in the Coromandel Beach Goldmining Company is announced to be held in the office of Mr James Mackay. juu., Queen-street, on the 10th June, at noon, for the purpose of increasing the capital of the company from 12,000 to 16,000 shares : and to arrange for the working of the mine. Accompanying a receipt for the annual subscription to the funds of the U.K.A., Thomas H. Barker, Esq , secretary, writes ; —“Glad you are making such noble progress. Have not time to write to you at length. Am overwhelmed with work and correspondence. Work on and hope on.—T. H. B.
