John Goodall. To the Chairman Thames Municipality Committee. Mr Tyler observed that if they could establish the fact tiiat the survey of boundaries was from actual survey, it wonkl lie a sufficient answer to the "te'egratn received from the Co’otn'al (Secretary. Some of the measurements were pci unity taken by Mr Gooda'l, nod others were from a plan. The Committee could answer the telegram by stating that the measurements were taken i'.otn actual stiW' y.
Mr Davies saul he thought the latter part of Mr Goodall’s letter was sufficient. Mr Tyler said the Committee were out of funds, and that Mr Goodat', as a prof. sshmal man, would require to he pa : d, hut it they get those who made the plans
to certify to their cor.* e tc ss it woo'd be sufficient. Jf the Secretary would ascertain from Mr Goodall tin- names of those from whose plans In-obtained the heatings and distances, they could then ascertain if these parties woo'd certify as to their correctness, of which he apprelnnded
tlu re would lie no difficulty,' All the Committee wanted was to lie in a position to say that the bearings and distances were obtained from actual survey. The following resolution was moved
“ That the Secretiny be instructed to see Mr Goodnl', and ascertain from him if the hearings and distances taken by iiiin are correct, and also to find from him whose plans and surveys he used, so that tiie latter may certify as to their correctness.
Mr Davies observed that he was afraid alter all, their labor would bp in vain. Mr Burgess said they might get a municipality extending from Hape Creek to Shellback, but not further.
Alt' Goodall entered the room and said his distances and measurements were correct. He took some himself from survey and derived other portions from the plans banded to him by the secretary. ' He was ready to certify to the correctness of what he did, and if the makers of the plans would certify to the correctness of their work he should be ready to certify to the correctness of the whole. The bearings and distances were not approximate but real.
The plans referred to were stated to be Mr Macfarland’s and Mrßeere’s.
It was moved by Air Davies tiiat the Chairman be authorised to send a telegram to the Colonial Secietary, stating that the bearings and distances were from actual survey, and that the Crown Land Commissioner was mistaken in stating that they were approximate. The meeting then adjourned.
