The steamer Golden Crowu is announced to make a special trip to-day, leaving Auckland at 8 o'clock, and Tararu for Coromaudel at iiouu, Irbm which latter place she will start for Auckiaud at 4 p.m. We understand that Mr James Stewart, Resident Engineer, has received instructions to proceed on an early day to the Waikato, for the purpose of pushing forward the surveys of the proposed railway line front Mercer through that fertile district. At the Theatre Royal last night the Minstrels were but meagrely patronised, the counter-attraction of Madame Siuiouseu’s benefit at the Academy no doubt having much to do with it. The programme was as usual amusing, and also well goue through. No doubt they will be better patronised tonight, theirs being the only entertainment announced for the evening. A very attractive programme was gone through, Madame giving her selections with her ushal good taste. The " Swiss Echo ” song in the first part was beautifully rendered, but the sweetest gem of the evening certainly was, *‘ ! Tis the Jiarp in the Air,” in the second part of the programme. aid of the funds now being raiseu to build a Church of England, we are informed that several members of the congregation of St. George’s Church, Mary-street, consider that the Vestry of that Church, in handing over a variety of things which were ou hand since the gift auction lately held in aid of the St. George’s, have commuted a breach of- trust, aud a letter from one of out leading citizens, who is a member of the congregation, has been sent to Mr Lawior ou the subject, which communication, we understand, will probably be made public.

An elderly man, named William Gregory lately employed as a school teacher, at Tapu Creole, was brought up to Grahamstown Wharf in a boat, last eveuing, and from thence conveved to the Hospital. He has been very ill, we understand, for some time, and has lately got worse, aud there beiug no medical man at Tapu, his friends there have sent him up to the Thames Hospital, where we have no doubt all that medical skill and care can do for him will be exerted iu his behalf.
