Arrivals. —Star of the South, s.s., 181 tons, Holmes, from Napier; passengers: Messrs Smith, Campbell, O’Bailor, and 3 in the steerage. Columbia, new schooner, 50 tons, McLeod, from Mangawai. Meteor, schooner, 30 tons, from Poverty Bay, under charge of H.M.C. authorities. Cleared Outwards. —Keera, s,s., 158 tons, Carey, for Southern ports. Passengers Messrs Adair, Middlebrook, Bollard, Gwynuelh, Blaydes. The s.s. Star of the South, from Napier, arrived in harbour last evening after a capital run to Napier and back, she having been only six days away from this port. The Star of the South brings a cargo of splendid sheep—in fact, one of the best of their kind yet landed in Auckland from Napier. Three hundred of them average from 901 b. to 1201 b. each, aud the remainder from 70lb. to 901 b. each. Captain Holmes reports having left Napier on Friday last at 11.30 a.m., rounded the East Cape at 10 a.m. next day. Fine weather, with light variable winds, was experienced throughout, Passed the Dauntless, schooner, between the Barrier and Mercury Island, bound in, yesterday.
