THE NEW GOODS WHARF.
Yeste 'DAY morning, Mr Millet, the Engineer to the Government, took over possession of the new wharf from the contractor, Mr Taylor. Carls were soon at work discliaiging the vessels which lay alongside the wharf, only awaiting for the signal given to begin. We have before given a description of the wharf, so will content ourselves with giving a list of the tolls to be charged by the Government for the use of the structure : For every ton of goods, wares, or merchandise landed or shipped thereon or therefrom gj, Evciy waggon (not being an express waggoD) drawn by one horse . , 6d. Ditto for. every additional horse . ~ 3d. Every other vehicle drawn by one horse, 3d. Ditto, for every additional hoise . . 3d. Every barrow or truck .... id. Every vehicle with four wheels, without horses 6d. Every vehicle with two wheels, without horses 3d. Every horse not drawing any Tehicle . 6d. Every head of great cattle . . . 6d. Every pig, sheep, or goat . . .Id. For every person landing from or going on to the wharf (crews of vessels alongside, licensed watermen, officers of the Government, aud other persons employed on the wharf excepted) 3d. For every vessel hauling alongside, £1 per quarter for vessels of 20 tons and under, and 6d. per ton per quarter additional for all vessels over 20 tons and under 100 tons, such payments to be made in advance ; quar- ■ tors to commence on Ist January, Ist April, Ist,July, and Ist October. For every vessel not paying quarterly, the master shall pay for every day or part of a day the vessel is alongside the wharf 2s. 6d.for the first 20 tons of registered tonnage, and per ton for each additional ton of registered tonuage.
