COMMERCIAL.

Guard AN Office, Gahamstovra, May 15th, 1872. A pair amount of business has been done during the month, although it has only been for present consumption. Storekeepers have not been anxious to buy in stocks, as at present they either cannot,, or will not recognise the advance in general goods that has taken place in the Australian Markets, which at present necessarily rule this market. The arrival of the Storm Bird direct from Sydney with a general cargo of goods suitable to the requirements of this market, ought to show our storekeepers the advantage of encouraging direct shipments instead of paying toll to Auckland ' merchants. We are informed that should sufficient inducement offer, one direct trader at least, will be retained in the trade. Goods of all descriptions have only come to hand during the month in small parcels, and we refer for alterations in prices to our price list. PROVISION MARKETS, &C.
