It is raining very heavily, and a strong northerly gale is blowing. The schooner Age has been washed ashore. The s.s. Taranaki has arrived in the Manukau. There is no further news of importance. The sharemarket yesterday was moderately active. The following sales were made :—Otago, 27s 9d ; Bismarck, 33s and 34s ; Nonpareil, £4 5s ; Caledonians, £22, sellers £23; Moanataiari, £5 ss, in demand, market rising. WELLINGTON. Saturday, 7 p.m. There are very heavy floods around Blenheim and in nearly all the Southern ports in consecpicnce of the very heavy storms which have passed over the Island. A great many districts are now under water, and there is no telegraphic communication at present obtainable beyond Wellington. ’ The s.s. Wellington has sailed for the South.
