A CORRECTION.

We owe an apology to three, of our distinguished citizens for an omission which occurred in our report of the proceedings which took place upon the occasion of his Excellency the Governor’s visit, on Wednesday. The citizens referred to are Mr A. W. Anthony, of the Governor Bowen Hotel; Mr John Bullock, late of the West Coast goldfields ; and Mr Daniel Bull, of the firm of Bull and Sturrock. Their names were not published as having attended the Levee ; but the mistake was none of ours, as his Excellency’s aide-de-camp did not furnish us with their cards in the usual order of affairs, and our contemporary did not take the trouble to forward us the names when, later in the day, he obtained the information. There is a rumour afloat to the effect that the abovenamed gentlemen did not attend the Levee at all ; but the mere fact of its being announced in our contemporary’s columns ought to silence all doubts at once. We certainly did not see them present, and if one at least of the party had been there, be could hardly have escaped the notice of our eagle-eyed reporter, who was watching the proceedings, bis portly frame making him at all times a conspicuous object. Perhaps, however, the three citizens were present in spirit, if not in body, so that after all the list we have referred to may be correct.
