THEATRE ROYAL.
At this place of amusement, last evening, there was a long and varied programme on the boards, for the joint benefit of Mrs Collins and Miss Carroll, and, considering the very threatening state of the weather, there was a good house. The programme, as usual, was gone through very successfully. Mr Bent, in his serio-comic sketches, caused an immense amount of laughter in the pit,and the dancing of Messrs Collins and Carroll was throughout superexcellent. As for the singing of Mrs Collins, it was very good until she began Irish ballads, and those were not quite up to the mark. In the winding-up farce, Mr Bent was immense, and very funny in his rendering of the part, and as for Mr Collins he did really look like some attenuated effigy of man, and Mr Carroll was efficaciously serious, making tire “ Band of the 14th ” look as they never looked before. Mr Brown was, as usual, very well received in his singing. Tonight there will be a change of progromme.
