VOLUNTEERING.
Owing to the inclemency of the weather, the Rifle Brigade did not muster very Si - ongly last night. fergeaut - Major Gr ant formed the whole of the Volunteers present into one company, and put- them through inarching evolutions, countermarching, frout form company on the march, &c. MEETING OF THE ROYALS. The monthly meeting of the Royals took place after parade last evening. There was a good attendance. Lieut. Lcchucr (secretary) read the financial icport i or the last quarter ending the Ist oi April. The receipts showed £9O 16s 7d for that period, and the expenditure nuiomjied to £7O 8s 3J, leaving a balance in hand of £l4 7s lid, out of which would have to be dcducP-d various sundry amounts for accounts not yet in. The following members were elected to audit Lite accounts, and bring up their repoit at a meeting to Lie held next Thuisday, after parade: Corj>inr.l Ilaresnapc, Messrs T. V' aile. and G. E. Aide'ton. The following gentlemen were elected honorary raembei'- oi the company—Captain Pye.Messrs E. Thomas and Edward Leylaml. The Captain st-aied iFat arrangements would be made at the next meeting to fire for the following prizes—A handsome medal presented by the officers of the company : £-7 ns, presented ny E. Thomas, Esq.; and a prize rifle, presented by Color-Sergeant Noonan. Alter ethorpreliminary matters alluding the interests of the company had heeu discussed, the meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the chairman, Captain Lipsey. THE ENGINEERS Mustered to the number of about 20, and after their usual drill all those present were measured for their new uniforms by Mr Saunders, the tailor who had come down from Auckland for the purpose. All those members of the corps who were not present on parade last nigiit can Le measured for their uniforms to-day, before the departure of the boat for Auckland. Mr Saunders is staying at Mr Hayles’ Golden Fleece Hotel, opposite tiie Theatre Ruy.J, where members wishing to be measured can see him during the morning.
