TAMBAROORA.
The Timm of the 1-ltli inst. says : —“ Thi» lias been a sensation week with us. First came the wonderful crushing from Paxton ami Holman’s claim producing a cake of gold weighing -1,100 ounces, of which 4,150 oz. were obtained from two tons. In six weeks, the proprietors of this claim divided o. T cr £24,000 —a thing not to ho equalled every day. The stone, to be raised is said to bo richer, if anything, and there really seems no knowing whore these wonderful finds will end. The next event was the jumping of four rich claims on the Ilill —(Krolimaim’s, Bcvors’, Hurley’s, and (Jaril and Beard’s) —by Dale and party. The amount iff stone crushed by Alessrs Pullen and Rawsthorno’s machine for the year 1871, commencing on February IG, was 1013 lons, yielding 15,333 ounces. This gives an average of about Boz. to the ton, a very handsome return for the gross quantity of stone. The above crusbings worn made by Messrs Pullen and Raws--1 home’s small machine. This week their powerful new machine, built to order by Messrs P. N. Russel! and Sous, of Sydney, is 1o commence operations. The Grapliolite Gold Alining Company is to be formed to work a lease of six acres, originally taken out by McPherson and Naylor, and situate above the Southern Cross, Hawkins’ Hill, for which latter company, there were 5,000 applications for the 3,000 shares. The Grapliolite Company's grounds are more advantageously situated ; Krolimanu’s veins going through the ground, which is in a direct line between Krohmanu’s and the Champion and Tmmicliffe’s claims all getting good gold. There will he no difficulty, wo apprehend, in floating this company, as the ground is proved beyond doubt to contain rich veins, that wili'pay very handsomely for working. The Golden Fleece Company arc now putting in a tunnel from the Macquarie, to cut the Hit or Aliss vein, which some years ago yielded 0 oz. to the lon ; Nicholl’s vein in which tho Oriental Company is getting good gold; Shoe's vein (the Welcome) too well known to require description; and Bragg ami Cu. s new vein and Williams’ vein. The two latter veins yielded at the Sydney mint lately 17 ox,, anil 4 oz. respectively to th; ton. This company has good prospects and plenty of work before them; as their tunnel will cut upwards GO veins already known. The Lucky Sack and the Rose of Victoria claims, next hilt one to Brand and Fletcher’s, have amalgamated, and intend throwing their ground into a company. Being right, on the line, they have a good prospect before them, and will shortly form one of tho companies employed in developing this vast reefing district with remunerative results. A tunnel is to be put in, to strike Brand’s vein about. 200 feet below the latter’s present workings. Payable stone, but patchy, is now being got on the ground. A company called the Enterprise Gobi Alining Company is about, to he formed for the purpose of working a ten acre lease on the Bald Hill, near Paxton, Gant, Holman, and Co’s leas.-, and adjoining King’s Old Reef. Three distinct gold hearing veins or lines of recj: run through this lease, parallel with the Bald Ilill veins and King’s. The forni'T gave a return of ten to thirty oz. to the (on, and the latter from four to one hundred oz. (picked stone) to the ton; and a few tons from the surface on this lease went loz. 4;iwt. The gold hearing veins can he worked from the surface, or by driving tunnels from the deep creek that runs at the foot of the Bald Ilill, which will cut: (in three to four hundred feet) several veins known to run through this lease. The ground on the southern boundary of the Enterprise was worked to a depth of 40 feet by King and party nine years ago, and gave tho returns now staled ; hut owing to tho distance the stone had to he carted to the machine, and so little being known about the nature oE quartz reefing at the time, this line of reef was abandoned up to some few months ago. Golden Gui.lv, —The Brown Horse (Doust and Co.’s) are forming a company for their ground. Hollow and Barlow have bought George Anderson’s claim ; and arc foiniing a company. Thomas and narty are crushing. Tlicv arc on a, poor patch of stone this t ime ; but have plenty of good stone in the ground yet. White and Co. have a big pile of stone up. which looks well. '1 hey have bottomed their second shaft, and arc driving to break through. Port r and Anderson are rai.-ing first dais stone ; the gold is lr avy, and runs well through the solid. There is one thing looks well for this line—the farther north the ground the. heavier the gold is. Rose of Sharon are sinking. One half share in this claim has changed hands for £SO. Woo ! and Slack (Golden Pot) adjoining Porter’s, arc also sinking. They are down over one hundred feet, lnve gone through one vein showing (it is said) 3 or 4oz. to the ton. They expect to cut Porter’s.vein in about another ten feel. A good figure is said to be offered for a share in this claim. Ihc next party, Glover and Cox, have gone through a vein carrying fair gold; they are also sinking for Porter's vein. Some eight or nine other parties are sinking on this line. Paten and Co. arc sinking a 150 feet shaft next Langford. There is no doubt Golden Gully will become one of the most important places in this (’i strict.
