MEETING AT WELLINGTON AND DUNEDIN.—AID TO THE GREYMOUTII SUFFERERS. — THE RACES AT INVERCAIiGILL.—THE GRAIN MARKET.

Wellington. —February 21, 7.05 p.m.: At a meeting held to-day over L7O was subscribed in aid of the sufferers by the late flood at Greymouth.

Dunedin. —February 24 : Over LIBO was collected hero in two days in aid of the Greymouth sufferers. The new grain crop is now coming forward. New wheat selling at 4s fid ; good samples are. worth ss, Dari y still maintains full prices. Oats are offering at 2s ; sales slightly lower for old parcels, and a little has been sold at higher rates.

Port Charters. February 21: Arrival, Jessie Roadman, from London; 84 days. Invercargill. —February 24 : The races came off to-day, and were an immense success. There was a large attendance on the course. The Town Plate was won by Slander. The Ladies’ Purse was also won by the same horse.

Timaru. —February 24 : A meeting of the Farmers’ Club has been held here to-day. It was resolved to ship wheat to England through the Dank oi New Zealand. Wheat is selling at 3s fid to 3s 7d ; oats, Is 8d to Is lOd. Nelson. February 20 : Wlianganui, first innings, 9fi; second, 47. W: kefield, first, fifi ; second, 55 — Whangamti winning by 23. Great excitement towards close of match. Splendid reception given.
