Dl'nim, Feb. 1;> : At a meeting of electors held last night, a resolution was carried that that Mr J. B. Bundle be invited to contest the Bogan electorate. Melrournk, Feb. 15: Mail advices are generally satisfactory. Private advices by the mail, state that there would be a private demand for Australian wools before the February sales. There was a very active advance of 8 per cent, for most descriptions, over the average rates of last November : and further rises were expected to take jdace in consequence of manufacturers’stocks being light. Continental advices also indicate a further advance.—Feb. lti : Private advices by the mail are unfavourable to the shipmentof Australian wheat. The shipment of sacks to Melbourne is light. Foo Choo circulars state that there is only one vessel loading for Sydney. A small stock of congous is offering, but it Is of poor quality. The Shanghai shipping list notifies the anival from Sydney of the Charlotte Andrews, St. Byrccdnle, and Agra. Geelong preserved meats are selling in London at (id. A ready sale was anticipated tor parcels to arrive. Tucsday next will l>e set apart as a day of thanksgiving for (lie recovery of the Prince of Males. In connection with this matter of the Prince's recovery, the City Council have voted an address to the Queen. The -!'/>' strongly condemns Captain Challis, ol the Losnrio, for his action at. the islands where Bishop Pat-tc-son was murdered, and says that he should be dismissed from the service. \\ ollongoxg, Feb 1;>. —-Air W. Forster addressed a large meeting of the electors in the Temperance Hall last night. Jle condemned the Ministerial combination by which gentlemen of such opposite opinions as .Sir James Martin and Mr liobertson were held together, and urged on the electors throughout the colony to use every legitimate effort to break it up. The usual vote, expressing the elector’s opinion of the fitness of the candidate, was moved by the late member, Mr James Osborne, and carried with acclamation. There are three local candidates in the field Messrs Brown, Lysaught, and Thompson.— lfcn/h/.
Gouliu'rn, February 15.—At a meeting of the shareholders and creditors of tlie Goulbiim Meat Preserving Company, held yesterday, a resolution was passed favouring the winding-up of tbc company ; but different committees have been appointed by tlie creditors and the shareholders, ami it is likely there will be another meeting. — Jfirnltl.

Berrima, February 15.— Captain Onslow addressed a large meeting of the electors in the Court-house last night. Mr Looney was in the chair. Captain Onslow in a speech of some length adverted to tlie various measures brought, before the House during lasi session. He expressed his disapproval of the action taken by the Government in regard to the border duties, and said be was in favour of Civil Service competitive exam inn-' ions.— Un-ohl.

The mail contractor’s premises, and adjacent house, were burned. They are insured in Queen’s office for £4OO. —From Calcutta, three vessels have sailed. The ‘ Appelles’ has !100 tons of rice, 2000 cases castor oil. Tlio ‘E. J. Spence,’ <IOO tons rice, 1000 cases of castor oil. The ‘ Albert Victor,’ nnO tons of lice. The The ‘James Service’ and ‘Arrac.ni’ are loading.—A fair business is doing here ; 70s is asked for Heuncssy’s pale brandy in bulk. In Martell’s dark there arc no actual transactions.—The last washing of the Land and Albion Consols Company yielded 214 oz. There are buyers at 725.
