THE UPPER TARARU ROAD.

Messrs. Sheehan, Milled, llnrsboiough, and J. Gwyuuetli, jnnr., who is in charge of the works, started for Upper Tararu yesterday morning, to enquire into the requirements of the district. They visited the Vulcan and Cyclops claims. The Vulcan were breaking out very goodlooking stuff, showing gold freely. The Cyclops also shows excellent prospects Tenders have been called for for the deviation and improvement of the Upper Tararu road, and are now under consideration at Auckland, so that we may now soon expect to sec these much needed improvements in full swing. Mr Henderson, manager of the Vulcan G.M. Co., and the manager of tlie Cyclops, showed tbo party through their respective mines and workings, who were highly pleased with the prospects shown to them. Tlie Provincial Bc.rotary has pronri ;ed that when the contractois have finished tlie road according to the specifications, any money left out of the sum voted for the road shall be expended in further improving it by taking off tlie corners, to enable the sledges the better to get round them, building bridges, Ac. The bridge by tlie (Scottish Chiefs has been wasiied away, and another substantial one is to be erected in its stead. The Goldfields’ Secretary, after returning to Gralmmstown, proceeded to Parawai in company with some of the members of the committee for tlie recreation ground, but did not prolong his visit, having to return to Auckland by the Gulden Crown.
