MELANCHOLY ACCIDENT.

A most melancholy accident occurred yesterday afternoon on hoard the cutter Lapwing, now in harbour. The vessel was moving round from the east to the west side of the wharf, under canvas. In the act of jibing, whilst rounding the end of the wharf, the boom struck a seaman on board named Joshua Storey, a young man aged 25 years, and knocked him overboard. The poor fellow sank immediately, and was not seen to rise. It is supposed that lie was disabled by the blow.— X. Z. Herald.
