POLICE COURT.— Yesterday [Before W. I’UASKIt, Esq , R.M.]
Drunkenness. —James Connor, David Ilarvy, and Henry Fletcher, were dealt with in the usual manner, for being drunk. Drunkenness and Threatening Language.—Jeremiah Ryan was charged with being drunk and disorderly, in Bolleii Street, the previous day ; also, with using threatening language towards bis wife, by saying “I’ll take your life"—“I’ll be hanged for you,” to which charges he pleaded not guilty.—Alary Ryan, wife of the accused, gave her husband a very bad character, saying be bunted her from a good situation where she was getting an independent living, and rushed at her with sto.ies in his pocket, saying he’d kill her, and then die happy and be banged for her. She was the best wife in New Zealand, but was afraid of her life in consequence of bis violence. The accused was lined 20s. or 48 hours’hard labor for being drunk, and was ordered to find two sureties of £25 each, and himself be bound in the like amount to keep the peace for the next six months.
