RECHABITE ANNIVERSARY.

Yesterday, the Star of Ilauraki Tent 1.0. R. celebrated their annual festival in a suitable manner. They assembled, adults and juveniles, at the Karaka Schoolroom, at 8.30, and from there, beaded by a brass band and their banner, marched in procession to the AVesleyau Chapel, Gralirmstown, when the Rev. J. Williams, a ter prayer and singing, preached an impressive and feeling sermon. Tho text was taken from the oath chapter of tho book of tho Prophet Jeremiah, the last two verses. After the service, the procession was reformed, and marched through Drown and Owcn-strcets, into Pollen-street, and thence to Parawai. Here, during the day, a variety of games —football, cricket, foot racing, &c.—were indulged in. At about 2 o’clock, all partook of lunch, and then the games were resumed with great gusto until evening, when all returned, well satisfied with their clay’s fun. TIIE SOIREE. In the evening, a soiree was held in St. George’s Hall, Pollen-street, at which some -100 persons assembled. After tea, the tables were cleared away, and when the folks were all seated the ball was just as full as it could be. The annual report was read by the secretary, aud showed that the Tent was in a most nourishing condition, and that largo numbers were being added to their body. The speeches made were congratulatory to the Tent in general on the state of their affairs and their increasing numbers. Pressure on our space will not admit of giving any of them in detail, much as wc should like to do so. AYe must not, however, conclude without mentioning the singing of Miss P. Howe and Miss Hunter, especially the former, who, in singing “ The Last Rose of .Slimmer,” was rapturously encored. The glees were also remarkably well rendered. God save the Queen concluded what was a most agreeable reunion.
