The Poles lo be sawn from. Heart of Totar.a, perfectly sound, straight, free from loose knots, shakes, and sap. Any pole containing the least sap will be rejected. Hie majority of the poles a v e required to be ill) feet long, (i inches square at the top, and o inches square at the butt. A few will be required of the following increased dimensions : 2.j feet long, (! inches square at top, 8 inches square at butt. The Poles arc to be delivered along the line, which will be pointed out by the ihstrict Inspector, foilov lug generally the beach line between Giviliainstowii to Kareta. and from thence almost in a direct line to Coromandel. Each Tender must lie accompanied by a deposit of as a guarantee of good faith, which sum will be forfeited should any competitor refuse to sign the contract in the event of his tender being accepted.
