AN OTHER FORTUNATE MAN.

[From tiie Pittsburgh Despatch , Dec. 16.] Romantic things come to pass these days in the financial line, and wo have already had one or two illustrations here abouts. Tho last individual who was made pecuniarily happy by the opportune demiso of a wealthy relative in a foreign land was, as may bo recollected, an bumble hostler at the stable of a certain firm on Duquesno way. This time tho fickle goddeßS has smiled on the tobacco trade, and the facts are briefly as follows: For some years past there has been engaged in business on Fifth Avenue extension a German who has found it as much as ho could do to provide for the material wants of his family. On Monday this German received a letter bearing a foreign postmark, and not being an educated man liimsclf, brought it to a friend, who is engaged in the tavern-keeping business, with tho request that the friend would read it to him. This was done, and tho letter when opened, was found to be an announcement fliat a remote wealthy relative of flic cigar-maker had died and left him £150,000 stg. or 750,000 dels, in gold. The artist in the “ weed” could scarcely believe bis oars at first, and thought the affair was a practical joke upon him, but further examination of the letter leads to the assurance that it was genuine.
