THE REV. V. LUSH AND THE THAMES HOSPITAL.

To the Editor of the Thames Guardian'. Sir, —At the annual meeting of the subscribers to our hospital, the rev. chairman insisted upon a bye-law which, however useful as regards the general public, was never intended to he applicable to those medical gentlemen who, without warning, exercise a beneficial guardianship over the patients in the hospital when seriously ill or dangerously wounded. In contemplating such narrow-minded false strict propriety, I have no hesitation in saying, on behalf of my medical brethren, that although thus insulted hv a gentleman who should know belter, we shall always in future, as we have done in the jiast, continue our volunteer services with that ready spirit so natural to our profession.—l am, &c.,

Augustus G. Mekrett, M.D,
