A FRICKLE BRIDE

The Ballarat Post has the following:—A most delightful of scan. mag. is going tho rounds of a certain aristocratic neighbourhood not above one hundred miles from Melbourne. It is stated that a medical gentleman rather advanced years, has lately become enamoured of a young lady who was acting as governess in a family of which the gentleman was the medical adviser. The medico told his love, and Hie damsel thinking, doubtless, hat she might go farther and fare worse, consented, and named the happy day. Tho nuptial knot was duly tied, and tho honey-moon completed. Upon the return of the happy pair to the house, the doctor’s friends expressed their congratulations, and amongst the number was a rather prepossessing young fellow who claims the doctor as his uncle. Visit, after visit was made by the nephew, and love being blind, the newly made Benedict did not notice that there existed a secret sympatliy between tLo visitor and his bride. But unfortunately such was the ease, and Hie denouement came in due course of time. One morning the white dove lied from its legal custodian, and nestled in the strangers’s bosom. The medico lie-u-ailed his loss for some time; hut, doubtless thinking that such a wife was not worth the keeping, lie lias now ceased to trouble himself as to her whereabouts; and it is quite possible the matter will cud in a divorce case.
