THE BAGPIPES.

To the Editor of the Thames guardian. Sir, —l am glad to see that the “ Lover of Bagpipe Alusie ” has taken up the part of the bagpipe music, or, 1 presume, the music of bis country, to lie insulted, as I am told it was by the T.S.Y. on Wednesday's parade, if so, I had tbe satisfaction of not hearing it, as I have no connection with the “ Thames Scottish ” for the last three weeks, stiff 1 am sorry if “ Lover of Bagpipe Alusie” is speaking the truth, that any body of men, who have chosen the Highland costume and music, would so far neglect themselves as to allow their piper to appear in public before lie is qualified or properly learnt to do so. Tbe reason that I trouble you by asking room in your columns for this note is that t riends at a distance may not be under the impression that I was the piper mentioned by tbe “ Lover of Bagpipe Alusic’s ” letter.—l am &c., Simon Eraser. Shellback, 161 b January, 1872.
