THE RODNEY ELECTION.
To tlic Editor of the Thames Guardian.
Sin, —I see by a paragraph in your issue of this morning that Mr W. T. Swan again aspires to a seat in the House of Representatives. I am rather taken aback at the news. As a Rodney elector I would like to ask that gentleman what claim he has upon that constituency to ask them for their support ? Mr W. T. Swan is undoubtedly a very good man in his way, but I do not think lie is at all fit for the position to which he aspires. What did lie do for the Thames when he represented it ? Nothing! lie is a man who will never take up a position in the House. I would ask is he going in for a billet? If so, we have far to many ot that class already. If he would take my advice lie would not attempt to contest the election at Rodney, for it will be in vain.—l am, &e.—Jan. 15. A Rodney Elector.
[We do not think Air Swan is going in for a billet; and as to his fitness, the electors of Rodney must judge; as to his claim lo represent the district wo are not in a position to say. —Ed. T.G.]
