RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT—
Saturday. Before W. Fraser, Tt.M. J. Fitzgerald v. P. L. Corston. —Air Tyler for plaintiff. This was an action to recover the sum of .-Cl, for work and labour performed by plaintiff’s wife as a milincr and dressmaker for thcVvife of defendant. Plaintiff deposed that his wife carried on the business of a dressmaker, &c., with his sanction and authority, and the lady deposed to having performed certain work for defendant’s wife. There is a balance of .£1 now due and owing. Judgment for plaintiff and costs, £1 9b. Samf, v. S. AAA Davies. —This was a claim for £1 18s, for work and labour done in writinglon calico the words “ British Empire Hotel —Margaret Cairns.” The plaintiff deposed to executing the work at the request of defendant. Air Lymbimi was called to prove that the same was a fair and reasonable charge. The defendant said lie bad merely obliged Aliss Cairns in this matter by calling ou Fitzgerald, and never cxpccten to be called upon to pay. Judgment for plaintiff with costs, £1 13s.
