An Italian Commission is appointed to inquire into the condition of Port Brindisi. —The ‘ Mcgtera’ court-martial is sitting, and will be sueeeded by a Royal Commission, Lord Lawrence presiding, for a full investigation.—The Tichboruo case was resumed on the 17th instant. AVitncsses were examined in support of the claimant. That of Liardct and his sons, with other evidence, is favourable to the claimant’s identity.—Ministerial speeches were inado at the Guildhall banquet.-—Sir Charles Dilke, in his speech at Newcastle, made an attack on Royalty and the Peers. —The case again Overend, Guerney, and Co. is dismissed.—Kelly was acquitted for tho Talbot murder. There was tremendous excitement in Cork.—Dr AViuter is dead. —Arrived: 'Great Britain’ (s.), ‘Northampton.’—Sailed : ‘ Riding Hood,’ ‘Storm King,’ ‘Agamemnon,’ ‘Essex.’ November 20. The Earl of Belmore will probably bo the new Governor of Bombay. Count Beust is appointed Austrian Ambassador in London. The Lord Chief Justice protests against promoting Sir L. Peel and! Sir R. Colville to the Privy Council.—Mr Disraeli was elected Lord Rector of the Glasgow University. Ex-Lord Mayor Dakin lias been knighted.—The South Australian Loan was negotiated at 102 1-7 and upwards.—A meeting of woolimporters was held; Air Dalgetty, chairmail. The AVool Association is reconstructed, and six members added.—Mr Bigot!, the proprietor of The Irishman, i& sentenced to four months’ imprisonment* —Air Isaac Butt at Glasgow advocated Repeal of the Union, .and Irish self-govern-ment. —A great lire has occurred at Geneva.—Captain Thrupp and the officers of the ‘ Alagtera ’ were acquitted.—The whip ‘ Underiey ’ has listed ovei to seaward, and her position is more dangerous.—The Bank rate is reduced. —The trade returns are highly satisfactory.—Arrived : ‘ A’irago and Howiek.’— Sailed: ‘ Carutual,’ 1 Therinopyhe,’ ‘ Dilkhur,’ and ‘ Agues Rose.’
