Mki.uourxf.. —The A ryns of November 1G reports : —ln breadstuff*, the sales of flour reported have not been of much account ; quotations are unaltered, trade parcels being moved off at £l2 10s to £l2 15s. Wheat is certainly more looked after; we hear of a line of close on a thousand hags Adelaide having changed hands at a price quite up to our quotation of f»s lOd to Os lid. In feeding grains there is little doing, though we observe a better demand springing up ; there is more appearance of business, and sales arc reported at 3s Id for good feeding oats. Maize is a shade firmer, and parcels can be quitted at 3s IOAd to Ids ltd. Sugars meet with a good deal of favour, and business is pending which is likely to lead to the disposal of some heavy parcels. For ordinary purposes sales are mentioned at 38s Gd for fine yellows, to 40s for whitish counters. By auction a small parcel of China sugar was quitted at £24 to £2B. In timber considerable sales are reported. The cargo of kauri, ex ‘ Rita,’ was got rid of at an advance on previous rates, 'flic public sale of wines and spirits this forenoon did not prove so successful as could be wished. Of the port wines offered only the balances of two shipments were quitted at* £B(3 to £3G 10s for low medium. Ilcunessy’s brandy in bulk was placed at Gs2d, and in case at 25s 3d. Lemon Hart’s 10 pier cent. o.p. rum was quitted at 8s 2d, and Scotch whiskey at 8s lid to 5s sd. Tcmicnt’s ale is moving oil freely at 10s. Flour, £lO 5s to £ll 10s. Expoits to-day— Wheat, 213 bags. CaxTKRRUKY. —The Lyttelton Times of December 28 reports: There has been little doing in the grain market throughout the week. Wheat is being placed in small lines at equal to 4s (id for good milling samples. Oats have been offering rather more freely, and holders would now accept a considerable reduction on last week’s rales. We cannot quote over 2s Gd for the, best samples. Few sales of barley are noted at 2s to 2s Gd ; the quality, however, was medium. Provisions remain at last week’s rates. Butter is very plentiful at -Id to 4}d, and cheese at Bjd to .TJd. Hams and bacon, 7d to 74d. Oamakc. —The Times of December 10 reports :—“ There is no perceptible animation in the grain market, the supply of wheat being nearly exhausted. Stocks of wheat are small. Oats in fair supply, but quality poor, the greater portion being discoloured, owing to the late wet harvest. We quote best wheat, 4s Gd; medium, 4s; oats, Is Od to Is 10d, for bright feed ; Hour, £l2 10s to £l3 ; oatmeal, £l4 ; bran, £8 ; pollard, £4 ; potatoes, none.”
